How I Support Employers
Managing Claim Duration
Rising claim costs are most often driven by delays, stalled recovery, and missed opportunities for modified work. By staying closely involved in each claim, monitoring recovery progress, and intervening early when things are not moving as expected, I help reduce unnecessary claim duration and associated costs, while remaining fully aligned with policy and legislation.
Preventing Escalation
A strong safety record isn’t only about prevention on site, it’s also about how injuries are managed when they occur. Early, informed claims management and timely return-to-work planning help prevent minor injuries from becoming recordable or time-loss claims. I focus on early intervention and consistency so claims are managed accurately, defensibly, and without unnecessary escalation.
Informed Decision-Making
I support employers in making informed, evidence-based decisions throughout the life of a claim, including when questions arise around entitlement, duration, or cost responsibility. Appeals and cost relief are considered thoughtfully and pursued only when supported, with attention to long-term outcomes, system credibility, and productive working relationships. This ensures actions taken are measured, appropriate, and aligned with responsible claims stewardship.
Modified Work Programs
I work with employers to develop meaningful modified work options that reflect how their business actually operates. This includes aligning functional abilities with real, available duties and supporting the development of physical demands analyses where helpful. The goal is early, sustainable return-to-work that keeps workers connected to the workplace and prevents unnecessary escalation or time loss through detailed, robust, sound modified work plans.
How Engagement Works
I work with a small number of employers to provide focused, hands-on claims management support. Engagements are clear and structured, designed to fit within everyday business operations. This approach allows for consistent involvement and thoughtful follow-through from initiation through to closure.
Consistency & Fairness
How claims are managed is visible to workers, unions, regulators, and the broader industry. A consistent, well-structured approach to claims management helps ensure that employer decisions are clearly understood, defensible, and aligned with policy and legislation. This supports predictable outcomes, maintains professional relationships with Workers’ Compensation Boards, and reinforces your organization’s reputation and credibility.
Claim Steward Practice
Modified Work Programs, Built to Stand Up to Review
I support employers in developing practical modified work programs that reflect real job demands while aligning with Workers’ Compensation Board expectations, COR audit requirements, and contractor compliance standards. Programs are designed to support recovery and stay-at-work outcomes while standing up to external review, ensuring consistency, credibility, and operational readiness.
Designed for approval with COR audit standards and contractor compliance platforms such as ISNetworld and Avetta.
Supporting Supervisors, Leaders, and Workers
I support front-line supervisors, managers, and key stakeholders in understanding duty to accommodate and applying modified work confidently and consistently. This includes developing clear injured worker information packages and providing practical guidance on documentation flow, roles, and timing. The focus is on clear communication, consistency, and helping everyone understand what’s needed, when, and why, so claims move forward without confusion or unnecessary delay.
Objections, Appeals, and Cost Relief
I support employers with objections, appeals, and cost relief in alignment with applicable legislation and Workers’ Compensation Board policy. These actions are considered carefully and pursued only when supported by evidence and appropriate to the circumstances of the claim. The approach emphasizes clarity, credibility, and respectful engagement, helping maintain constructive working relationships with compensation boards while supporting fair, well-reasoned outcomes.
